We have had a wonderful weekend here at Vanilla Cottage, and all the extra touches made us feel right at home. The walking locally is great with some lovely views, and ten out of ten for cleanliness and equipment - we loved it all. All in all a fantastic time! Miss B, Daventry, Northamptonshire 10 January 2011
We have had a wonderful holiday at Vanilla Cottage with our border collie, Blue. Lovely walks and a complete rest. This is a wonderful location. Thank you for the wine, flowers and vodka. The beds were really comfy, plenty of hot water and nice pillows. The Butterfly Zoo near Ross is excelent and the waterfalls were brilliant. Wales is a fabulous country. Raglan Castle was very good even though it is a ruin.
Thank you. Mrs J, Ashford, Kent 29 September 2010
Thanks for the warm welcome. It is a lovely cottage, clean comfortable well equipped and in a beautiful spot. We had a great week with lovely warm weather. The Food Hall in Abergavenny is a good place to eat. Dont try the Chainbridge on a Bank Holiday!
The Munday party and dog. Mrs M, MANCHESTER 06 September 2010
Our 2nd visit to Vanilla and we were not disappointed! The weather was not kind to us this week (reminds us of our home in Scotland), and our intended walks were dashed. The Farmers Market in Usk was great and kept us well fed for a couple of days. The Red Kite centre is a must and there is a lovely walk to enjoy afterwards. We had meals at the Kings Head Usk (good, honest, pub food), the Foxhunter, good but a bit overpriced, at the Hardwick a really excellent meal, and we long to go again. Finally the Black Bear a fantastic meal and good chat. Our two dogs enjoyed the walks and are gong home fitter. Liffey got 2nd at the Welsh Kennel Club Show this week and beat her great rival.

We had a lovely week in this beautiful, empty and friendly part of the world. Lots to see within a very short distance, much of it free. Thank you for thew welcome. We hope to come back. Mr N, TWICKENHAM, Middx 25 August 2010
Loved the cottage - so wonderfully quiet we thought we had gone deaf! Very peaceful and relaxing. Watch out for the variety of birds in the garden - even saw a green spotted woodpecker. Thank you for the warm welcome. Mr C, Walsall, West Midlands 24 August 2010
What a wonderful week we have had here. We were very impressed by the welcome and help from Fiona and Malcom on arrival, and the unexpected extra touches (flowers, wine and vodka). The weather has been truly lovely, very warm and sunny. The surroundings are lovely, and the cottage, well what a delightful place - everything was thought out for our comfort, go to the top of the class Fiona and Malcolm! As for eating out ,the Black Bear must have a master chef - excellent food and service. It would be nice to say we will be back, but at 84 its harder to know what tomorrow brings - thank you! This was our second visit to Vanilla Cottage, which was very comfortable again - we will definitely be back! Mr D, WINCHESTER, Hampshire 28 May 2010
A lovely cottage with everything we needed and more. Plenty to eat and drink locally and we didn't use the cooker once! Thanks for all the extra touches that make all the difference. Mrs S, TONBRIDGE, Kent 28 May 2010
A very warm and informative welcome, and the bottle of wine and blackcurrant vodka was much appreciated! A small but very cosy cottage with a good range of amenities, and it is obvious that the owners take great pride in the condition and presentation of their cottage.

Perfect sunny spring weather, a lovely cottage and garden and beautiful surroundings and walks. Dr J, BROMSGROVE, Worcestershire 15 March 2010
We had a lovely time staying in this superb country cottage, its just perfect for a winter break away and thank you for making us so welcome. P.S the fruit vodka is great! Mr F, LUTON, Bedfordshire 08 March 2010
We arrived in heavy snow and more fell during our stay, but what a beautiful cottage to be holed up in with lots of food, wine and 2 dogs at our feet in front of the woodburner - our idea of heaven (we live in a town centre pub). The walks were nice though a bit difficult in places with 8 inches plus of snow! The cottage was immaculate and the extras such as flowers, wine, and the fire and lanterns lit for us were a lovely touch. We will return to Vanilla Cottage, one of the best we have had the pleasure of staying in! Mrs T, STROUD, Gloucestershire 30 January 2010
A very pretty cottage, very clean and well equipped, lovely quiet area and a perfect getaway. Miss T, MANCHESTER, Greater Manchest 11 January 2010
We have stayed in a lot of cottages and Vanilla was superior. We had a lovely time and we loved all the extras which made the cottage special such as the spa bath and the large TV, the flowers wine and vodka and and you had laid the table. We enjoyed the Big Pit, Tintern and Monmouth, and we enjoyed our walks with Bobby the west highland terrier. We were so impressed that we have rebooked - thank you so much! Mrs F, LONDON 06 December 2009
The cottage was perfect, and the little extras, made a special treat. The cottage was very well equipped and so comfortable we didn't want to go out. The wine, flowers and homemade fruit vodka was lovely. It was great to have a large t.v with sky, and a spa bath. The cottage was in a great spot for exploring the area, we would definitely go back again, and perfect for dogs. Mrs F, LONDON, Greater London 06 December 2009
We had a lovely time - the cottage is so homely and it's got everything you need. The local people are friendly, and we recommend the Castle Inn in Usk and the Chainbridge at the bottom of your road. Thank you for the flowers, wine, milk and fruit vodka, and the whirlpool bath was a treat! We had a great week and Oscar the cat loved the walk round the cottage - we hope to return.
Mr F, ENFIELD, 29 November 2009
After months of ill health this break was exactly what we needed and boy, do we feel better for it! Even the weather could not dampen our spirits. We have seen this wonderful part of the world in all seasons and never tire of its beauty. The cottage is so cosy, a lovely comfy bed, and homely touches. We loved the vodka nightcap - we must make it part of our bed time routine! Thanks for a warm welcome and ten out of ten for for everything! Mr C, WOKINGHAM, Berkshire 13 November 2009
Many thanks, we have had a wonderful stay and the weather was gorgeous for October. We can recommend a trip to the Big Bit and Ironworks, Raglan Castle is a must and we had a delicious lunch at the Foxhunter. The cottage is lovely with so many extras, and really clean and welcoming, and we loved the woodburner. We will certainly recommend you to family and friends!
